My business name is a representation of where I come from and what I do. The "WYld" stands for Wyoming. It's where I was born and where I choose to make my home. "Flower" is representative of my career. I'm a rangeland ecologist and work for an environmental consulting company. Most of my summers are spent in the oil and gas fields of southwestern Wyoming monitoring vegetation growth on reclaimed land. I love nothing more than geeking out over the wildflowers I find in the rugged Wyoming desert. "Crochet" is where I have found my creative outlet and the hobby that has transformed into my passion.

I taught myself to crochet via YouTube videos in 2013 and haven't looked back. I sold my finished work on Etsy as “The Oilfield Flower” until late 2018 when I chose to reevaluate my business. I decided to close my Etsy shop, slow down on commissioned orders, and cease producing ready-made products. Now, I am completely focused on producing unique, well-written crochet patterns inspired by nature and the great state I call home.

Although my business is small, I am determined to devote my time to generate fresh content that will enlighten and inspire. I hope to provide helpful hints and original patterns via my blog and shop that will help to strengthen the crochet community and expand the maker movement.
